Shuiman Impression Tea

Rainforest tea from the mountains of Hainan, shaped by local families, old tea trees and the quiet rhythm of Wuzhishan.

About Shuiman

A small tea story from the mountains of Hainan

Shuiman Impression is rooted in Shuiman, a mountain area in Wuzhishan on Hainan Island. This is not a place of mass production or loud advertising. It is a place of mist, rainforest, steep green slopes and tea grown close to the land.

The project brings together tea, people and origin. Behind the leaves are local families, small producers and a landscape where mountain air, rainforest climate and traditional tea knowledge still belong together.

The Place

Wuzhishan, where Hainan becomes mountains and rainforest

Wuzhishan lies in the green heart of Hainan. The region is known for mountains, dense vegetation and a climate that feels very different from the coast. Tea grows here in a landscape shaped by humidity, warm air, shade and frequent mist.

Shuiman tea is closely connected to this environment. It is not simply tea from Hainan. It is tea from this specific mountain landscape, its soil, weather and people.

The Cooperative

The cooperative behind Shuiman Impression

Wuzhishan Impression Shuiman Tea Cooperative was founded in 2014 in Shuiman, one of the core tea regions of Wuzhishan. It was built around a simple idea: connecting local tea farmers, supporting rural families and strengthening rainforest tea production in the mountains of Hainan.

The cooperative connects tea farmers, tea gardens, processing knowledge and local tea resources. Instead of treating tea as an anonymous product, it keeps the connection between the village, the mountain landscape and the finished tea visible.

The People

Tea made by families, not by a faceless brand

The strength of Shuiman Impression is not only the landscape. It is also the people behind the tea. Local families and small producers take part in growing, selecting and processing the leaves.

Through the cooperative, tea farmers are connected through shared work, practical support and a stronger local tea identity linked directly to Wuzhishan and Shuiman.

Every package represents work in the mountains, careful handling and a direct connection between tea gardens, families and finished tea.

FROM LEAF TO TEA

Spread by hand
after heating

This image shows the making of Impression Shuiman large leaf green tea. After heating, the fresh leaves are spread evenly by hand by the tea master, allowing them to cool gently.

We follow a traditional process in which handwork is supported by simple mechanical equipment. Once heated, the leaves are spread out and cooled so that the remaining heat can escape and the temperature within the leaf can balance. They are then rolled and roasted.

The raw material comes from rainforest tea trees in the highlands of Shuiman in Wuzhishan. Step-by-step processing according to the old method preserves the natural mountain aroma and the rich substance of the green tea. This is how genuine green tea from Wuzhishan is made.

Local Communities

Supporting rural families in Shuiman

The cooperative is part of a wider local effort. It helps create work, connect farming families with tea production and keep more value inside the region.

Tea becomes more than just a product. It becomes part of everyday life, regional identity and long-term development in the mountain region of Wuzhishan.

Old Tree Tea

Older trees, deeper roots, quieter taste

Some teas from the region are connected with old tea trees and traditional growing areas. These teas are valued because they reflect a long relationship between people, rainforest and mountain landscape.

Parts of the Wuzhishan tea region are also known for large leaf tea varieties connected to the tropical mountain climate of Hainan. These tea plants developed under very different conditions from many tea regions on the Chinese mainland.

Warm temperatures, rainforest humidity, mountain mist and dense vegetation shaped tea cultivation here over generations. This contributes to the distinctive character of local red tea and rainforest tea from Wuzhishan.

Old tree tea is not made for fast consumption. It is made for people who care about origin, patience and the feeling of a place.

Identity

A tea identity shaped by Wuzhishan and Hainan

Shuiman tea belongs to a region with a strong local identity. The rainforest climate, mountain landscape, large leaf tea varieties and the work of local tea producers give the tea its own character.

The cooperative helps turn this regional character into something visible: a tea identity connected to Shuiman, Wuzhishan and Hainan itself.
